#1 Reahead Series
Publisher: Omnific $4.99
book received for review from publisher
I first saw this book over at Book Addict Patti’s blog so needless to say I was overly excited to receive this for review (and yes, there was fist pumping).
Confession: I admit I’m not a blurb reader – I usually dive right in, which if I would have read this blurb I probably would have passed due to the May/Dec romance (not usually my forte). AND that would have been a shame because I freakin’ loved this book.
Ok, now that I’ve gotten that off my bubbies – The Unidentified Redhead starts off with Grace Sheridian moving back to LA to return back to acting. After temporarily moving in with her BFF Holly, she meets Mr. Super Sexy Scientist Guy aka super sexy Jack Hamilton. Mr. Sexy is an up and coming 24 year old British actor that recently landed the equivalent of Legend’s of the Fall role. Chemistry and sparks practically sizzle between the two (in a really fun, witty,-banter kind of way) when they meet at a party. As Grace thinks of Jack as just a really hot friend to have, she can’t help but want to try something more with Mr. Jack Hamilton. Will age, bad cougar photos from TMZ, and a job in New York keep Grace and Jack apart…
This book was (hand to god) laugh out loud funny. I loved the humor and banter between Grace and Jack which is why this May/Dec romance worked for me. Usually I always get a feeling the older woman can come across condescending or always concerned about her age, which really doesn’t interest me as a relationship tension builder. Sooooo not the case – right from the start the chemistry and dialogue between Grace and Jack really made me believe he would be attracted to someone like her, who was outgoing, carefree, and didn’t take him too seriously.
The guy looks young enough to be your kid Grace. (inner Grace monologue)
Yes, but only if I’d really slutted it up in junior high…
I love Jack’s ability to keep up with Grace’s witty banter
I find that the best cure for a hangover is to keep drinking”
“Yes, well, that’s because you’re like seventeen and capable shit like that. I on the other hand, will wake up tomorrow feeling like something died in my mouth…
“Wow, that’s a really descriptive picture. And, I’m twenty-four, not seventeen, for future reference.
If I had to pick one tiny thing and I can’t believe I’m actually going to write this… were the sex scenes. I know! The Romance Gods are probably going to strike me down, but I felt it was a bit repetitive and a majority were about four-play *runs and hides* until they actually had full on sex later on. But in all honesty it didn’t disrupt my pleasure from enjoying the story as a whole.
The Unidentified Redhead was a pleasant surprise simply because I didn’t think I’d enjoy it so damn much. The humor probably isn’t for every one –I’m just putting that out there. I look forward to reading the second book, The Redhead Revealed since the ending was more of a Happy for Now.
