My Bloggy Is A-Okay Now – Take That Malware Hackers!

in All Reviews 16 Comments

My apologies, I found out last week that numerous sites hosted on Godaddy using wordpress were hacked and yes, unfortunately ours was one of them.  I *really* wanted to curl up into a ball and suck my thumb but alas I had to hit the forums and rid of this damn thing.   I thought I had removed it successfully the first time, but apparently there is a cookie that will install the bad javacript again after a few days on all my wordpress files.  I have restored to an earlier version and removed all the bad scripts.  What the hack did was completely take over my blog and redirect people to a spam anti-virus website.

I will continue to monitor *daily* and if it happens again Smokinhotbooks will move to another blogging platform.

If you’ve been affected click here on how to remove the hack

You can also use this quick script to temporary remove the javascript via FTP from Sucuri Security

I do have some other helpful links I used if this has happened to you.

Sincerely

Smokinhotbooks

  7. @Queen B It was only for self hosted blogs using Godaddy, it was a php hack and a large percentage of peeps were affected *sobs* as was I.

@Patti LMAO you have Succubi on the brain ;)

@ Jess (The Cozy Reader) You might want to change all your pws including Godaddy login make sure your security is tightened. Once your site get’s hacked by this HUGE malware attack it is pretty messy to clean up. Hopefully I got rid of it…if not I will curl into a ball and cry like a baby.

@Fiction Vixen *pinky wave* thanks for ‘helping’ me through with my sobbing via email

@Chris I keep chanting from Galaxy Quest Never Give Up Never Surrender whilst trying to un-hack my site.

@VFG I was able to remove the redirect in the mornings, or if you are using Mac you didn’t see the hacked site. It’s like a bad stalker, it keeps coming back *grrr*
