As I sit typing my review, eyes straying to the spider crawling along my ceiling, thinking ‘people swallow 8 spiders in a year’. I began to think, how do I capture my experience as a reader reading my first first f/f urban fantasy? This was uncharted territory for me. M/F/M been there done that. M/M ummm, yes please. But F/F? Say what?! So I strapped on my big girl panties and ventured forth into the land of girl on girl love. Was I scared? Maybe a little, but damn the consequences, I was going to go on this adrenaline ride. (straps on superhero cape and matching stilettos…nothing says adventure like a matching cape and heels).
Silver Kiss begins with Ayla returning back to her home town to rejoin her pack. You see, Ayla is a werewolf who left a few years ago thinking the pack wouldn’t accept her being gay. Living with her lover Shannon (who is not a werewolf by the way), and a PI who is investigating the disappearance of a young girl named Molly. As Ayla returns to her pack she reconnects with her wolf friends Vince, Joel and a transvestite wolf named Glory, she stumbles across a new drug called Silver Kiss. Violently addicting, this malevolent drug can turn anyone into an addict. Add a feral wolf who attacks whenever Ayla seems to be getting closer to finding out who is behind the distribution of the drug, and you’ve got an intriguing mystery to unfold.

My Favorite Scene has to be when the feral wolf kidnaps Ayla and she sees that he has been drugging wolves in order to run an illegal fighting ring. My heart was pumping the entire time, ‘muy’ suspenseful. Think UFC but with wolves and a girl.
Okay, you all know I’m going to “go there” regarding the relationship aspect between Ayla and Shannon. Although this story was more Urban Fantasy than Paranormal Romance, I was a little disappointed I wasn’t able to read more about Shannon and Ayla’s relationship. Silver Kiss starts off with both of them already in a long term relationship and I would have liked to see how they met, or what happened when Shannon found out Ayla was a wolf, their first kiss… do I sense a future post on Are You A Prequel junkie …?
Silver Kiss kept me holding tightly onto Mrs. Easy Peasy (Kindle) during the action scenes and had me screaming ‘ouchie” when Ayla’s lip piercing was pulled out in a fight. Silver Kiss didn’t bring anything new into the werewolf building arena (why reinvent the wheel?), instead focusing on the suspense of a female werewolf investigating a missing girl and a addicting drug that seems to be at the bottom of all this.
After gearing up and strapping on my adventure cape and heels I was a little over prepared for my first f/f story. So, like any other adrenaline junkie would, I plan to dive into the genre that is fem love. Why dip a toe in when you can do a mega, supersized cannon-ball into the water. Stayed tuned as we venture into the unchartered territory of just what is f/f.

I enjoyed Silver Kiss. I think there was a big emphasis on relationships in Ayla’s in life in general and the romance was a bit in the background. This was a great urban fantasy and I’m hoping there’ll be more.

Although the romance took a back seat b/c this is UF, I enjoyed Ayla and Shannon’s relationship dynamic how they handled Ayla moving back with her pack etc.
Sadly, when I first saw this picture I didn’t even have to scroll down to see where it came from. KC we need to start working on those Perv Alert badges. Happy Birthday Smexy!!
