I had so many anxieties before starting this new journey in my literary adventures. Would I like this, would I be weirded out, would I like it too much? If I liked it too much would my Kinsey scale change? Would I have to have a talk with my finance about how he feels about having ‘friends’ within our marriage? With all of these ‘what if’s to ponder I decided to take the leap. I didn’t read some pantywaist, Showtime ‘after-dark’ special, oh no! I went ALL the way. I cut my puritanical apron strings and went fubar on male/male erotic romance! After loosing my hetero innocence I found that I actually liked this genre. Not only did I find an educational aspect to they story I found that I was not turned off by the physical and romance aspects of it as well. What I did forget to mention was that this was not my first foray into reading male/vs./male erotica,-Kate Douglas snuck in a few doozies in her Wolf Tales novels. However, I do want to note that this was my first full m/m that did not include a female character because that would be cheating. I found that the same things I like in a typical romance still applied to this genre. I don’t care for weak-kneed, foo-foo characters. I like there to be passion and downright, bodice ripping (guess I should change that to a dress or polo shirt?) and most importantly an actual plotline.
As an obsessed foodie I would compare m/m romance to the likeness of having an evolved pallet. This is probably not for the strict ‘meat and potatoes’ kind of person but for those of us sushi and bizarre food lovers looking for a little more pop and pizzazz! Male/male romance, the forbidden fruit of erotic romance.
I lost my m/m romance v-card (virginity) to Kate Hill, somebody throw me a quinceanera! I’m a real woman now!
Who was your m/m first *cough* romance book?

“If I liked it too much would my Kinsey scale change?”
LOL – Well – how are you faring on the scale?
I agree – I don’t read m/m just for the sex scenes – I need good plot..but..good man lovin is nice too
I lost my viginity to Heaven Sent – Jet Mykles.
I meant “fairing” – is that even a word – I am high on cough medicine.
The only m/m I’ve read is LB Gregg, and I enjoyed it very much. The storyline was good and the characters worked well together. I don’t know too much about other m/m authors and have not tried m/f/m although I’ve seen a few books out there – I’m thinking about trying Colter’s Woman (Maya Banks, I think?) but am not big on cowboy stuff.

I think I’m a 6? I took the Kinsey test years ago maybe after m/m romance I’m a 2?

I’ve read many bks with m/f/m which I enjoy, Mandi suggested LB Gregg who I must try. Maybe to get you in the cowboy mood you can watch Broke Back Mountain then read Maya Banks…?
My first all m/m was L.B. Gregg Gobsmacked. I enjoyed it, made me laugh, and the drunken bathroom scene was woohooo! Those drunken bathroom scenes get me every time. Doesn’t matter whose doing it. LOL
A great, great author to get you into the MM groove is JL Langley. Her books are wonderful. Josh Lanyon is another great one. He writes like I am reading a Law & Order mystery.
LB Gregg will have you in roaring with laughter. Her men are too funny and she writes wonderful love scenes.
Loved the drunken bathroom scene..and when they were in the kitchen with cereal stuck to his butt. LB Gregg makes me laugh!!
I have big love for Josh Lanyon too. His books are so good. KC – you better keep reading these m/ms so we can discuss
Mandi-that was a seriously hot hickey! I forgot about the cereal butt. Too funny!!
I’m trying this again: You are braver then I am! I still haven’t taken the plunge yet..

It’s really the simple things in life that are precious (bathroom scenes)

Great list! Mandi suggested these authors as well, I must add to my TBR pile!

I’m making m/m romance part of my romance diet its sorta kinda up there with carbs, but I’ll be reading more.
Colette
If I would have read a m/m romance bk like 3 yrs ago, I probably would have gone to Mass and done some Hail Marys. Even tho I’m not Catholic. Sometimes your taste changes further along down the romane road, to be honest I’ll probably always prefer f/m.
Oh, how I do enjoy your blog!!
I haven’t been “introduced” to the genre, and, honestly, I don’t know if I could read it without cringing a lot. Especially if it’s “down-n-dirty” lingo the author uses.
With all of that being said though, after reading your reviews, I just might ::try:: one of the books mentioned. Hey, if you enjoyed it, then there must be something there to like. You wouldn’t lead me down some horrible path, right?
RIGHT?!?!
(Ha ha)
Karra,
I think of m/m romance genre like food, if you’re into bizarre foods this is right up your ally. If you like and only read Christian romances this may not be for you. Me 5 years ago, never would have happened – me now I’ll give it a try. L.B. Gregg (smeybooks) has been rec to me by many bloggers. Or if your like me baby steps. You might want to try a book with m/f/m (male/female/male). I just finsihed reading Shared by Wolves by Rena Marks (erotic romance), ooo lordy hot hot hot. I’m with you, though, down and dirty just may not be for me, somehow I always end up down that direction…:)
