First and foremost, people, we have had contact with the other side and the walls are down, I repeat the walls are down! Here’s the low down. Mac has been captured by Useelie princes (death by sex fae), and is viciously being turned into a pri-ya, a ravenous sexual beast that lives only to sexually please her ‘dark master’. A fricken death sentence, no one has survived to tell about it! Dani, the young sidhe-seer with matrix style powers, rescues Mac from the evil Fae princes as Barrons and Vlane, our two out of three potential romantic leads are MIA. Bastards! Meanwhile Barrons, 3 DAYS AFTER Mac has been captured, find’s Mac caged in the bowels of the sidhesee abbey and rescues Mac only to spend months trying to bring her back from the dark side. Barrons and Mac do the horizontal mambo… jumping up and down YES! After helping Mac return from being a sex maniac, pri-ya, Mac 4.0 has arrived. She’s tougher, she wears black leather (pronounced lea-tha’) and is now one badass sidhe-seer who will kick major “petunia”.
Of course we are left with an uber-hanger (unfair cliffhanger) at the end of the book. For those who haven’t read this series, I suggest holding off until the release of her last book to avoid obsessive compulsive tendencies and stalking message boards in hopes of finding out more information, *guilty expression*. This series has pressed my non-existing patience to no end! I am not a fan of continuing series and prefer series that have a more stand-alone approach for the aforementioned reason. I become obsessed!
My Thoughts
Mac is by far one of my favorite characters. She has spunk. She wears pink, well,… now black and pink, and creates wacky inventions like the MacHalo to beat the baddies at their own game. I really like the way KMM has created this world of the Fae and they are not your typical fairies mind you! After so many of her books in the series left us with little or no information this one gave us a barrage of facts that I am still trying to sort out. For the first time I can say that I have no idea where this author is going to take us next. I won’t say I like it. My anxiety is sky high! Just what will happen to Barrons and Mac? Or is it Mac and Vlane? Or Mac and Christian? This trifecta of all mysteries has me all in a tizzy. With so many unsolved mysteries I don’t see how they are going to be all worked out in her next and last book.
Scene Pic: Warning You May Need to Spritz Yourself with Cool Water…
{Pri-ya}
“I am Jericho Barrons. Say my name.”
“No” {Mac}
“Damn it, would you just cooperate” {Barrons}
“I do not know that word, ‘cooperate.’”
“Obviously.” he growls. …..
“Woman, you make me crazed,” he mutters.
We do this often, Get into childish arguments. He is stubborn, my beast.
“Open your eyes and say my name.” {Barrons}
I squeezed them shut more tightly.
“It would make my cock hard to hear you say my name.” My eyes pop open.
“Jericho Barrons,” I say sweetly.
He makes a pained sound.
“Bloody hell, woman, I think a part of me wants to keep you this way.”
I touch his face. ” I like how I am. I like how you are, too. When you are … What is that word you used? Cooperating.”
“Tell me to fuck you.” I smile and comply, We’re back in territory I understand.
“You didn’t say my name. Say my name when you tell me to fuck you.”
“Fuck me, Jericho Barrons.”
“From now on, you will call me Jericho Barrons every time you speak to me.”
He is a strange beast. But he gives me what I want. I suppose it will not kill me to do the same. And so we begin a different way of being. I call him Jaricho Barrons and he calls me Mac. We are no longer animals. We have “names.”

Mac’s Journal
Unsolved Mysteries
Who is the 4th Death by Sex Fae? Supposedly he is marked with black and red tattoos, only characters we’ve read so far who have them are Christian McKeleter and Barrons. Who could this be, why did he hide himself…just tell us who it is!
According to the prophesy Mac is supposed to doom the whole world, just what the heck is she!?
Dani, will she get her own spin off? Anyone else dig the vibe between Ryoradan and Dani, I can see something there once she is over 18 of course.
Who is the Beast (IYD) We know 1 thing it has black hair, so who has black hair? Barrons, Christian,…dun, dun, dun, maybe Alina?
Finally, is Barrons good or bad?? Just what is his plan for Mac?
Next Book in the Series Shadowfever release date is no ETA on when this is coming out as Ms. Moning has been having some health problems January 18th 2011. Although if there is a God we won’t have to wait a whole year, some people have said it should be due out the same time next year.

How enticing to read but keeping gaze averted from text, I still have to read Dreamfever because yes, copy has still not arived LOL But as soon as I have read it I will come by again, read the whole post and talk the Fever talk with you!
My guess is Christian will get his own spinoff. I think he will stay “lost” until after Shadowfever. I think the 4th concealed prince was the book – who transformed itself or did something funky. See- at first I thought maybe something between Ryodan and Dani, but by the end, I feel Ryodan is a huge traitor. Maybe I am wrong..there is SO much at the end that is crazy. Plus, the books is called DREAMfever. Was Mac in some kind of dream at the end – was the beast not really even there?
Haven’t started this series, been swapped! I had planned to start this series by this book came out, but it didn’t work out. Hopefully I have this series read before the last book comes out.
K.C. – how do I track the comments here for individual posts? I couldn’t figure it out.
Yes, I am also obsessed! I’ve been checking out her message boards and reading any reviews that pop up! I don’t see how KMM is going to wrap this up in one more book!! I wondered if the 4th prince was really the Unseelie King, although it being the book is a good theory too…hmmm…
Dani had me cracking up through a lot of the book. I adore Christian’s character and hope to see him again soon. It’s killing me that we’re uncertain of the status of V’lane, Barrons, and Christian!
Oh, I was so wrapped up in Dreamfever thoughts – I forgot to tell you I left you an award over at my place:
http://sleeplessinneworleans2.blogspot.com/2009/08/feelin-love.html
Okay- now i HAVE to get started on these books! LOVE the quotes!
Hi Donna,
When you do finally get to this series we can get out together over Mac and Barrons!!!!
I will look into the comment issue!!!
Hi Patti,
Please tell me I’m not alone in my Mac+Barrons obession, seriously feel like a KMM Moning stalker. I lurve awards, thanks so much! Big *kiss kiss*
HI Zeek,
I think you will really like this series, is it sad that I already want to name my first daughter Mac….obsessed much moi *blink blink*
HI Leontine,
Gasp, how can you stand not having your book! Tis a must that you needs your back ASAP. Looking forward to getting Fever-ish with you.
Mandi,
Where would I be without my KMM buddy? Wow never thought about the whole “Dreamfever spin” this not knowing is literally causing sleepless nights for me. I’m all over the Christian book idea, I’m in hearts with him too. In the meantime *sniff* what do we do until the next book…?
Ok, I was thinking about the unsolved mysteries and something hit me this evening. Who was the beast (IYD)? We don’t know for sure if it was actually thing under Barrons’ garage. Just a thought Mac had. But we know the person it transformed into had black hair. Who had black hair? Barrons, Christian, Alina? And Mac! She made a point of stealing some hair dye. Ryoradan commented on it when she paid him a visit, saying it was a good look on her and asked if Barrons had seen her like that. When Mac saw the beast transform she said now she really had lost everything. So, was she seeing herself? The book is called Dreamfever so I’m wondering if she is in some sort of dream state? Just a thought LOL
Hi Fiction Vixen,
Love your name FYI. It makes sense in an odd way b/c she is in the Hall of Mirrors and anything can happen. I would have never thought of Mac being the beast, I just don’t know what I’m going to do if it is Barrons. Do we know if Alina had blond or dark hair?
I don’t remember what color Alina’s hair was. However my first thought when the beast began to transform was, “oh no, it’s Alina”. That’s why I included her in the list of possible suspects. However the more I think about it the more I believe it’s Mac. My mind just won’t let me believe it’s Barrons.
Do you think Ryoradan is a traitor? Or could it be possible that it was really Darroc? Or do you think Darroc is not the bad guy he’s been made out to be. It’s too much I tell you!!!! Lol.
I loved this book. Could possibly be the best yet!
I’ve heard a lot about this book, I think it’s one I will have to read. Thanks for the great review. I have an award for you HERE
Hi Munk,
I’m in hearts with this book, its not weird that I’ve already discussed naming my first born after Mac? Right?
Hi Book Chick,
Gasp! I love awards thanks so much!
I am totally Mac and Barrons obsessed. I haven’t picked up this book yet, but I love KMM! She has yet to lead me a stray!
Thanks for the great review!
Dottie
Alright. I feel like I have to weigh in on the unsolved mysteries, primarily because I’m newly obsessed with the series and the facts are fresh in my mind.
*Who is the 4th Death by Sex Fae?
I think it might have been the book, as someone stated, or possibly Ryordan (whatever his name is). I don’t think he’s a good guy, obviously gunning for Barrons position as leader (well, maybe). We haven’t seen him shirtless, so it could very well be him, or someone else from their freaky little clique.
*According to the prophecy Mac is supposed to doom the whole world, just what the heck is she!?
I have no idea on that one.
*Who is the Beast (IYD) We know 1 thing it has black hair, so who has black hair? Barrons, Christian,…dun, dun, dun, maybe Alina?
The beast can’t be Alina because Mac states that it’s “obviously male.” Well, unless Alina was reincarnated as a guy demon. I think it’s Barrons, as the demon was the IYD number, and Christian hadn’t yet been marked with the crimson/black tattoos when Barrons gave Mac the phone with that number.
*Finally, is Barrons good or bad?? Just what is his plan for Mac?
After this whole demon thing, I think he’s just another supernatural in a world that’s probably full of them, but no one’s aware of them yet. (Meaning he’s good). For the longest time, I thought he was a vampire, as he was always one to refute vampire ways (when Mac would make vamp comments), but the demon thing makes way more sense, especially if he was the IYD number. *Maybe pressing that buttons sends out some high frequency signal to the beasty/demon, summoning it?
Eh, those are my thoughts. I was kind of upset with the beginning of Dreamfever (since it was a wham, bam thank you ma’am moment with absolutely no build up ), but the ending left me with tears on my cheeks and a wish that I could talk KMM into sharing the ending of the series with me. So I don’t have to wait another year, ya’ know.
Hi Kara
I never thought the 4th Death by Sex Fae could have been “The Book” geesh I was utterly clueless. I’m really hoping we all won’t have to wait AN ENTIRE YEAR! Thanks for stoping by
I read this book twice and I’m still obsessed! I do have a theory about the IYD. During one of Mac and Barron’s convo’s about the mirrors. He went into the history that in one of the dimensions named Dream…(something, my mind is drawing a blank) that this dimension showed you all of your hopes, dreams, and most importantly fears. So I think Mac is stuck in that specific dimension and she is seeing Barrons as the beast BUT since the dimension shows you what you most fear and hope for, it will all have been a dream. And then Mac and Barrons can have a real sex-a-thon that we can read about instead of this Priya-mentally addled business.
Ok, I was here earlier and I wrote this big ole reply on my iPhone which wasn’t easy I tell ya, and then I messed up on the darn captcah and poof, it was gone. Took me an hour or so to forgive your blog but I’m back (and on my laptop).
Good thing, I guess, because I’ve changed my mind a few times since then.
I’m banging my head here because I forgot Mac said the beast was obviously male and as you remember I thought the beast was actually Mac and she was in a dream realm or something weird like that. But, now I’m swinging Marie K’s way keeping with the dream state but the beast being Barrons. I’m also sticking with Marie K because she said “sex-a-thon”
*snort* sex-a-thon love it! I too am rooting for “real” Mac out session between Mac and Barrons.
Fiction Vixen
So glad you’ve forgiven my blog, I would remove the captcah except then I would have to read spam Russian comments or viagra ads. I’m feeling your dream realm/state, a lot of peeps have been mentioning this as well.
K.C.
Yeah, better keep your captcha, I gave you a little shout on my blog regarding your ahhh…”stroking” habits. *giggles*
I felt so gipped! I totally wanted a REAL sex-a-thon we could read about with definitely more details about Barrons. We didn’t even get a chance to even peak at his derriere (from a literary stand-point). KMM, what a tease you are! I can’t WAIT for the next book. But please, hopefully this is the last one. My heart can’t take anymore suspense.
Fiction Vixen
I must check this out! This whole moving and no Internet business really cramping my blogging style *pout*
Alright. Because I’m such a nerd, I have more to add.
Earlier this evening, I finished reading one of the last Highlander romance novels that KMM wrote (“Spell of the Highlander”) and the “hero” of the story practices Dark Magyk (magyck? whatever) so he tattoos himself in crimson and black to thwart the “repercussions” of using said magic, so that’s most likely what’s going on with Barrons, since everything from her Highlander series carries into the Fever series.
I tell you, it drove me nuts reading “Spell of the Highlander” because all I thought about was the similarities between some of those characters and Barrons. I basically just pondered what the hell Barrons was while reading that novel.
It’s just a giant, highly sexual puzzle that I can’t wait to figure out.
*gasp* I must re-read Spell of Highlander immediately!!!!
Great bolg… these books are like Crack…Take a look at JMM’s other books…especially her short story in Tapestry (Lynn Kurland). The main character resumbles Barron as to a servant of the Unseelie King. The Seelie Queen has him and his true love meet in the Dreaming so he cannot be tricked by the Unseelie King. Also almost all of her books (still need to read two more) deal with being bonded to your love througout time (and the risk of bonding to soemone without them being bonded to you). The themes all indicate you might have to wait for your love to reincarnate if you are bonded to them and they are not bonded to you. My money is on Barron being either a Seelie Prince becoming mortal (semi) or a servant as in outlined Tapestry (don’t want to spoil it) or both. Mac was is half Seelie (which is in the other books – in fact Llyane (sorry can’t spell) mentions he could understand why Adam did it. Adam was a Seelie prince who became mortal and had childern with a human women (but the childern were half fae and could talk to the Queen). My money is on Mac being half fae, and reincarnated from the King’s human Concubine whol killed herself. Barron is Cruce and cursed the Silvers when she killed herself and is now afraid she will kill herself again (he comments about that in the last book). PS: the 4th man is only mentioned to have tatoos,
not the colors. Almost all her Highland books contain clues…. good luck hunting!
Hi Tasha,
You’ve summed it up so well, all of KMM are like crack…but the good kind that won’t land you at Promises. I loved reading KMM’s Highlander series, although now you make me want to have a re-read-athon to figure out these hidden clues. I’m absolutely obsessed with KMM!
It can’t be the sister…..when she is explaining what the beast looks like she explains that it’s obviously male.
Hi Barronslover,
Love the screen name FYI. There were many theories I saw on the message boards and one suggested it might be her sister – I thought that was interesting but I can’t remember if she had dark hair… anyway I’m absolutely dying to know and I can’t wait for Shadowfever to come out *fan girl scream*
It’s 2 am here and since I can’t sleep, my mind started wandering to the Fever series for some reason and pondering the whole Barrons identity again.
I had a freaking epiphany.
What if the demon thing that she “kills” is that “good looking guy” who just seems to find her at random moments? You know, the one who works in the Ancient Languages department? I checked, and he’s “tall, dark and handsome” with dark hair.
It could freaking be him. I can’t believe I didn’t think of it before. He has to have some weird connection to Barrons somehow. Plus, he’s a character KMM could sacrifice.
Hell. He doesn’t even have a name. And every time she describes him, it’s just that he’s “dreamy.”
He could ::totally:: be some demon pet thing of Barrons’ or part of Barrons’ gang.
Karra
Gods, my mind has been keeping me up past my usual bedtime too. Isn’t it odd when epiphany strike us, usually at some ungodly hour. I just don’t know what to think about Barrons, just when I think I “might” have figured it out, it doesn’t seem to fit. If that cute language guy is somehow connected with Barrons, would Mac have been so upset? I keep thinking it has to be someone who is close to her…your idea makes the wheels start turning in my head. FYI KMM sent out an update and since she is still not feeling well, there is not a release date yet for Shadowfever *cries*
For those wondering, Alina had blond hair. Mac says a bunch of times she and Alina looked a lot alike. That was said when she was still blond. However, I doubt that matters because the beast had dark hair BEFORE it transformed and was also male. It was all a facade, so the IYD could be anyone. Plus, KMM makes sure to say it is only a person, not a male or female.
I personally think it is Alina. Even though she is supposedly dead, she is a MAJOR character all the way through the series. Darroc (LM) keeps saying he loved her and didn’t kill her. He told Mac he could give her Alina back if she helped him. He also said he saw Alina recently in Faery. And when Mac killed the IYD she said she had THOUGHT she lost everything (because before she had thought Alina was dead) and now she knew she had. Then she showed incredible grief. The ONLY person she has grieved intensely for is Alina. Even when she was Priya and Barrons told her about Alina, she got angry and cried, though she didn’t know why.
Plus, the Unseelie king had been experimenting in order to find a way make his lover immortal. That is how so many new castes of Unseelie’s came about. Mac says multiple times that she is seeing new Unseelie’s that she hasn’t seen before. We know Darroc is experimenting with other dark magic and trying to turn himself into something else. He says he truly loved Alina, why not try to change her too?
I don’t think the IYD is Barrons (since they make an appearance at the same time in the book). I also don’t think Barrons is the Unseelie King. Christian finally gets to telling Mac about the curse of Cruce and how the Unseelie King can no longer use the silvers. We know Barrons uses the Silvers. Also, there are others like Barrons, and there is only one Unseelie king.
Hi Lisa
I agree with you, it has to be someone ubber important and close to Mac. Thus I thought Alina even though she has blond hair – we just don’t know maybe she dyed it…? You brought up some great pointers – god I could talk about Barrons and Mac all day
I just realized she called him “beast” twice. hmmmm
@Fiction Vixen In my heart I know the beast is probably Barrons. I’m in denial though b/c that would mean Barrons might be hurt and as Mandi aka smexybooks says “I want to hug him and kiss his boo-boos.”
It’s not him for reals, it’s all a dream. Seriously, believing that is the only thing that keeps me going.
The book is called Dreamfever… And the other books have kept true to their names in regards to the theme.
@Lisa I’m hoping it’s all a bad dream
Well not the sexy stuff of course…
Ok, its been a while since I read the last fever book, so I may be forgetting something….but is it possible that Barrons is the Unseelie King?
I think Barrons is Cruce and that he’s not dead even if iyd did morph into him. it would explain how he is so good at using the silvers. I also think the cute dreamy guy is important. He seems connected to the book since his reflection warns mac never to talk to it. Maybe he is what is left of the seelie king after he poured most of himself into the book?
I agree with Erin. I think Barrons is the Unseelie King; he defended him when Mac was talking to him. I think that when the Unseelie King went back to talk with the Seelie Queen/after he lost the fight against her he was punished into becoming part fae; not imprisioned, which is why Mac can’t sence him as fae. He might be trying to destroy the Book, but needs Mac to help him because it is his equal.
